It was for the office, we have a small office, usually its just one or two of us there on any given day, sometimes 4 and then there is chaos. There is no sink at the office. Just a water dispenser and a long walk to the bathroom. This made the Capresso machine we had there very difficult to clean. So often we ran out to one of the many close coffee shops. Sometimes 2 or 3 times in a day. With gratuity we were spending 30-40 dollars a week on coffee, and often succumbing to a cookie or croissant while waiting in line.

We like coffee. We like it strong. Dark roasts with lots of body are the favorite. We are picky. We have a favorite roaster and pick up a pound a week from him, this is just the coffee we go through at home. So, I was very concerned that the coffee from Melitta would suck and the entire purchase would be a waste. I was needlessly concerned.

We bought the coffee maker on a Friday and played with it over the weekend. Buzzworthy is a very good dark roast. We also tried French Kisses and Love at First sip. They were all very good. the French vanilla is a little overpowering. Its a nice break, but cloying 2 cups in a row. We bought the One:One at Target, and when we got it home figured out it was a return, it was missing the coffee samples, and extra spouts and filters for tea, also no manuals etc... It was the last one so we decided to give it a try and not re-return it. It worked. No leaking, cup size was inconsistent at first but by the 3rd day had settled into a consistent groove.

On Monday, the One:One went to the office and we began to miss having it at the house. I love our coffee maker at home. Another Melitta, its the 10 cup stainless steel thermal caraffe, it makes excellent coffee. but by Wednesday I found myself back at Target picking up a black model newly re-stocked and 3 extra boxes of Buzzworthy. I made iced tea yesterday using the spout and a lipton tea bag, the results were good. I seem to be drinking less coffee now. Perhaps 3 cups in a day rather than 6. My husband is noticing a similar trend. And we are not consistently throwing out a half a caraffe of luke warm coffee in the evenings.

I admit that I do not miss the mess of grinding. I can still compost the java pods. They are no organic, free trade shade grown Pods. But I think as the market grows, so too will the choices.

I really like being able to have a cup of medium roast when I'm in the mood instead of drinking a big pot of French roast because my husband already brewed it. He also won't drink flavored coffees so this allows me some fun. I hear that Podhead.com makes really good Melitta style pods, a bit expensive, yes, but such a savings over the coffee house, that i think I may order a selection.

I heartily recommend this coffee appliance. The price here at Amazon is currently 10-20 dollars less than around town. Pump style coffee is a revelation.
