My Melitta ME2TMB two-cup coffee maker works perfectly. I don't work for Melitta, I just love my coffee maker. I'll try to address some of the complaints I've seen here:
Travel mugs leak: There should be an o-ring in a groove around the lower part of the cover to hold the cover in place and seal it from leaking. If it's missing (lost or broken during washing?) then it certainly will leak. That's not a design flaw, it's operator error. The mugs that came with my Melitta are great - do NOT leak, keep the coffee hot, and fit nicely into my car's cup holder.
Mugs fill unevenly: The little silver plastic distributer thing under the spout has to be securely snapped in place. You have to be a bit gentle with it though - if you break the little snaps inside it, then it won't fit right and the mugs will fill unevenly. Again, I think this is operator error. I've run perfect double-mugs through mine every day for the last 3 years with no problems. (mmmm, love coffee!)
The basket overflows: Two possible reasons for this I think. 1: If you overfill the reservoir, the basket will overflow and/or water will leak out the back of the machine. Easy to fix - believe the markings on the reservoir and only fill to the line. It doesn't completely fill the travel mugs but it leaves room for the cover which protrudes down into the mug a bit. 2: If you overfill the filter or pack the coffee down, the water can't seep through and it will overflow. I find that 2 tablespoons of med. ground coffee per mug is perfect. More=stronger but also might mean overflow.
Hard to fill the reservoir: Depends on what you use. I use a plastic 1qt. container (you know, the ones that come from the Chinese restaurant or supermarket soup bar). Measure and mark it with permanent marker for 1-mug and 2-mug water levels and keep it in the cabinet with your coffee stuff. You can flex it for easy pouring and you don't have fiddle with how much water to use.
