What makes a great coffee maker? One that is easy to use, clean, program and makes really good tasting, HOT coffee. This Melitta 12 cup coffee maker completely fits the bill. Many new-age coffee makers look sleek but are difficult to program and/or have many pieces to clean or assemble; all the while making a ho-hum cup of coffee. This is not the Melitta.
The Melitta makes a great tasting pot of HOT coffee. I emphasize HOT since many makers do not brew at a hot enough temperature. It's really EASY to program the clock as well as the timer especially if you accidentally unplug the pot or experience a power outage. It's easy to read the water level and since it's a 12 cupper, you have enough for 2nd cups and many breakfast or dinner guests. It also brews the coffee pretty quickly; so much so that I very rarely use the stop-and-pour feature. There is also an option to brew a small serving a coffee; 4 or fewer cups.
I would give it 5 stars except for a couple of very minor things. First, the display could be a little bigger especially for my ageing baby boomer eyes. Second, while it's really easy to program the clock, it's also very easy to accidentally change the time as the buttons are very "loose" to the touch. However, these are very easy to overlook since I love the coffee it makes.
Unfortunately, I think this model is discontinued and I don't see it on the Melitta company site. Therefore, I'm buying another one since it's so inexpensive.
